I read this and saw my own experience mirrored. It is really not that hard to hire well, and thoughtfully, but few places do it.
I’ve had editors neglect to call, or neglect to contact me after an interview. I had one person (who I thought i knew well) just ghost after three interviews and suggesting I would fly out soon. I’ve been told I had the wrong experience and that someone else had been hired, but then no one was hired. I’ve had my ideas stolen.
Just be kinder when hiring folks. You went through the process once, too, so treat applicants as you wish you had been treated.
